Don't Wait Until October to Start Thinking About Medicare

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period may not begin until October 15, but that doesn't mean October 15 is the best day to start thinking about your coverage.

In fact, I'd rather do exactly the opposite.

Important healthcare decisions are easier when there's time to think, ask questions, double-check details, and even have more than one conversation if necessary.

When people wait until the last minute, everything gets compressed. Your mailbox is full of Medicare advertising. The phone is ringing. Deadlines are getting closer. Suddenly you're trying to remember the name of a prescription medication that you recognize instantly—but couldn't spell if your life depended on it.

You know the one.

"It's the little white pill. Starts with an M. Or maybe an N…"

That's not how I want you making decisions about your Medicare coverage.

There's a better way.

Start by getting organized now.

Make sure you know which doctors are important to you. Have an accurate medication list. Think about what has worked well with your current coverage—and what hasn't. When your Annual Notice of Change arrives, we can look at what is actually changing for the coming year.

Then we have time to talk.

And if we need another conversation after that, we have one.

We don't have to force an entire Medicare decision into one rushed appointment.

We may not be able to enroll today. But we can prepare today.

The goal isn't to move faster.

It's to make the decision without being rushed.
